Choose a goal, then keep the part you need
Meet a size limit estimates the video and audio budget for your selected clip, measures the produced file, and can refine compression up to three times. A result above your requested limit is labelled clearly rather than presented as a successful size match. Choose quality prioritises the picture instead of a fixed file size.
Enter trim times in seconds, drag the sliders or mark the current preview position as the start or end. Compression modes re-encode the clip for accurate trim boundaries. Quick trim copies the existing media, so it is lighter but follows keyframes and can move the cut inward. The measured output duration is shown.
Control picture and sound
Choose the longest side of the picture, keeping its aspect ratio, and optionally set a frame rate. Rotate or mirror the video, remove audio, adjust volume, or select an audio bitrate. Resolution is not enlarged beyond the source; the original-size option is capped at 3840 pixels on its longest side to protect device memory.
MP4 uses H.264 and AAC when the browser can encode them. WebM uses VP9 and Opus. Auto tries a supported combination. An unsupported source or output codec produces an explanation before incomplete media is exported. Metadata is omitted from the finished file.
Keep processing comfortable on your device
Videos are processed locally with browser media capabilities. The engine is loaded when needed, and no video is sent to a processing service. Your device supplies the memory, computation and battery, so longer or high-resolution clips take more work.
Use input files up to 250 MB and 30 minutes. Output is capped at 128 MB. Short clips at HD resolution are a good starting point on phones. Cancel releases the current processing job; the original file remains unchanged. The result preview describes the last completed export, and changed controls apply to the next export.
Frequently asked questions
›Can I compress a video to an exact maximum size?
Enter your maximum in MB. The tool calculates a bitrate budget and checks the actual file, with up to three passes. Browser encoders vary, so a result that remains above the target is clearly marked. Reduce resolution, shorten the clip or increase the target if needed.
›Is my video uploaded?
No. The selected file and processing remain on this device. The website delivers the tool's code, while your browser does the media work.
›Why is MP4 unavailable in my browser?
Browsers and devices offer different video and audio encoders. Choose Auto or WebM, try muting audio, or use a current browser. The tool checks the full selected track combination.
›Does Quick trim cut at the exact times I enter?
Quick trim follows the existing keyframes and packet boundaries and may move the cuts inward. Use a compression mode for precise cuts, and review the actual duration and playback before sharing.
›Will the compressed file always be smaller?
No. A source may already be efficiently compressed, and format conversion or higher-quality settings can produce a larger file. The original and actual export sizes are shown.
›Can I edit 4K videos on a phone?
The input reader accepts supported videos up to 8K, but conversion is capped at a 3840-pixel longest side and device limits can still prevent processing. HD resolution and short clips are more practical on phones.
