PDF EditorPDF Editor — Click, Edit, Done

About PDF Editor

Open your PDF and click supported text to edit it right on the page. Change a word or letter, adjust the style, or drag a text box to reposition it. Choose Done when you finish. You can also add text, sign, fill forms and organise pages. Your files are processed in your browser and stay on your device.

Star keeps a shortcut to this tool in your browser. Share sends the tool link without your entered details or files. Use the tool’s own export controls for its finished output.

Quick guidance

Choose a supported file or paste a screenshot where offered. Check the preview and output requirements, then process the file. Review the downloaded result before sharing. Cancel stops an active job; supported batch tools retain completed results.

Save and editable backups are optional and remain private on this device. Keep a backup before clearing browser data.

Edit directly on the page

Choose Edit text and click the words you want to change. Type in the text box on the page; select individual words or letters to replace or delete them. The toolbar above the page lets you choose a font, size, bold, italic or colour. Drag a text box directly to reposition it, or use its Move control. Drag the resize handle to change its box. Click another text box or choose Done to save your change; Cancel leaves the text as it was. Click added or replacement text again to keep editing. You can also open Find text on this page and choose text from the list.

  • Use Delete to remove the selected text, and Undo or Redo to revisit a change.
  • Use Add text for new words and Annotate for images, drawings, highlights, shapes, stamps and links. Use Sign to type, draw or upload a visual signature.
  • Use Pages to combine PDFs, reorder, rotate, duplicate, delete, crop or extract pages. Use Save to download your finished PDF, with optional page numbers, a watermark, header or footer.
  • Start with an A4 or US Letter page, or try the sample PDF to practise editing.

Understand what changes in your PDF

For directly editable text, choosing Done removes the selected original text from the PDF and saves its replacement together. Delete removes the selected text without adding a replacement. Undo restores the original. Direct editing removes the source text object. Recognise & edit uses a visual cover and replacement text instead. Added text remains a separate item above the page.

The editor detects the original font and reuses its embedded letter shapes when available. Some PDFs include only the characters already used. When an original font is unavailable or lacks new letters, a similar included font is selected automatically so you can keep editing and switch to the next box. Its original name remains visible. You can optionally upload a complete TTF or OTF font or choose a different font. New text inherits the last selected text style. Select words or letters and choose Move selection to make a separate movable text box. Repeated spaces are preserved. Unusual PDF letter spacing may change after editing. Nearby paragraphs do not automatically move. PDFs often store text in separate pieces, so a sentence may need more than one edit. Supported text inside groups can also be edited. For scans, nested artwork, skewed or unreadable text, use Recognise & edit this page. It turns visible words into selectable lines with an estimated font; check the result and match the cover colour to the paper.

Preserve original pages keeps the remaining source text and page quality. Normal replacement text remains selectable, including italic text. Some scripts need a picture to preserve their appearance. The page images option rebuilds pages as pictures and lets you choose resolution and JPEG quality. This makes original text, links and forms static; a smaller file is possible but is not guaranteed.

White cover, cropping and permanent redaction

White cover hides content visually. Original text and objects remain recoverable. Cropping changes the visible area and can also leave hidden information in a PDF that preserves original pages.

Redact places an opaque black block over the chosen area. If a downloaded selection contains redaction, the entire exported selection is rebuilt from fresh page images. Covered pixels and original PDF objects are removed; original selectable text, links and interactive fields are lost. Recognised text and original document information are excluded from that redacted export. Review the downloaded pages before sharing.

Forms, signatures and scanned text

Existing supported form fields can be completed here and are saved as fixed content in the download. New text fields, checkboxes and dropdowns stay fillable in an export that preserves PDF pages. An image export or redaction makes every field static. Read-only, certificate signature and dynamic XFA form behaviour are not supported.

A visual signature is an image or drawing of a name. It does not create a digital certificate or verify anyone's identity.

Recognise & edit makes scanned lines selectable for visual replacement. It covers the original area and adds new words; it is not a secure redaction. The Text tools panel extracts selectable words or recognises English and Hindi in scanned pages. OCR, or optical character recognition, turns a picture of text into words. It runs on your device and can make mistakes. Review the text before using it. Text extraction includes added and replacement text and excludes original text removed with Edit text. Separate text downloads can still contain words beneath redactions, white covers or outside a crop; review them before sharing. Changes to original text clear earlier recognition results so removed words are not restored by an old recognition layer. Recognised word positions can be included as searchable text in exports without redactions.

Watermarks, page batches and review

Use Watermark to upload a PNG, JPG or WebP logo, choose a saved gallery image, or write your own text. Drag the watermark anywhere, resize it, change its opacity and angle, or repeat it in up to 12 rows and 12 columns. Repeated marks move together as one pattern. Apply it to the current page or all pages. Gallery images are saved only on this device.

Use Pages to select several thumbnails and rotate, duplicate, delete or extract them together. Drag the dotted handles to rearrange pages; arrows and keyboard controls also work. Split every page, groups of a chosen size, or custom page ranges into separate PDFs and download them together in a ZIP file.

Text tools lets you find and preview replacements throughout the document, with whole-word and capital-letter matching. Choose the blocks to change and the replacement font, then apply them together. Phrases split across separate PDF text blocks may require individual edits. Scanned pages need Recognise & edit first.

Choose Images inside Edit to bring supported original images into the editor, then replace, crop, move, resize, rotate or remove them. Edited images sit above original page content. Complex clipped, mirrored, skewed or blended artwork is kept read-only to avoid altering its appearance.

Review contains bookmarks and comments. Existing bookmarks are imported as a flat list and stay linked to their pages as you reorder them. Comments are draggable review notes, with an author and open or resolved status, saved as real PDF annotations. Permanent redaction exports omit bookmarks and comments.

Light alignment guides appear as you approach nearby text lines, paragraph margins, page edges and centres. The box snaps into alignment and the guide becomes solid. Alignment uses page positions even when a replacement font is needed. Gentle snapping helps place the box while leaving it free to move away. Drag a box edge to move it, or Alt-drag directly over selected words. Hold Shift while dragging to move freely, or turn Snap & guides off. Arrow keys provide precise positioning.

Local processing and practical limits

The editor accepts PDFs up to 50 MB each, up to 100 pages in a document, and up to 150 MB of source PDFs in a session. Each page supports 50 added items. Large scans may take longer on a phone, and image resolution is bounded to protect browser memory.

Open a password protected PDF by entering its password. Passwords are not saved. Edited downloads are unlocked; Save also offers an unlocked copy of the original. Editing is kept only in the current browser session; download your finished PDF before clearing the workspace or closing the page. Setup links do not contain uploaded documents.

Frequently asked questions

›Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. Opening, editing, scan recognition and PDF export happen in your browser. Fonts and recognition resources load from the site, but your selected files stay on your device.

›Can I change text that is already in a PDF?

Yes, for supported text. Choose Edit text and click the words on the page. Type your changes, select individual words or letters to replace or delete them, and choose Done. Change the style in the toolbar above the page or drag a text box to reposition it. Click replacement text again to edit it further. You can also choose text from the optional Find text list. Embedded fonts are reused when available. If the original font is unavailable or missing letters, a similar included font is selected automatically; you can keep editing or optionally upload the complete font. Supported grouped text is editable. For scans or complex artwork, choose Recognise & edit this page to replace visible words with an estimated font. Nearby paragraphs do not automatically move.

›How do I move text or change its font?

Click the text on the page. Use the toolbar above the page to choose a font, size, bold, italic or colour. Drag the text box directly to reposition it; its Move control is also available. Drag the resize handle to adjust its text box. Choose Done to save. Added and replacement text can be clicked again for further changes.

›How do I permanently remove sensitive information?

Use Redact for sensitive information. Original-text editing removes the selected text object but does not sanitise every other place the information could appear. Choose Redact and draw over every sensitive area. The editor rebuilds the whole downloaded selection as fresh page images and removes the original objects and covered pixels. It excludes recognised text and source document information. Review every exported page before sharing.

›Will completed form fields stay editable?

Existing form fields are completed as fixed content. New text fields, checkboxes and dropdowns stay fillable when you preserve PDF pages. An image-based or redacted export makes them static.

›Can I combine PDFs and download only a few pages?

Yes. Select several PDFs or use Add PDF to combine documents. Reorder pages in the Pages panel, then enter a selection such as 1, 3-5 in Save. You can also extract the current page as a separate PDF.

›Can I read text from a scanned PDF?

Choose Recognise & edit this page under Edit text to change scanned words, or Recognise this page under Text tools to extract them. Choose English, Hindi or both. Recognition runs locally. You can review, copy or download the result. Original recognised word positions can make an export searchable; redacted exports exclude this layer.

›Does adding a signature create a certified digital signature?

No. Type, draw or upload adds a visual signature to the page. It does not create a certificate, verify the signer's identity, or provide cryptographic signing.

›What files and page counts are supported?

Use a PDF smaller than 50 MB. A document can contain up to 100 pages, a session can hold up to 150 MB of source PDFs, and each page can have up to 50 added items. Keep a downloaded copy of your work before closing or clearing the page.
