About CGPA to Percentage Converter

Choose the formula specified for your institution, course and graduation year. The calculator supports three mathematical examples on a 10-point scale; it does not determine which rule applies to your transcript or application.

Confirm the rule before converting

Check your marksheet, examination regulations or an official conversion certificate. Different courses and graduation years may use different rules. If no rule is stated, ask the institution or the organisation receiving the application rather than choosing a default.

CBSE's historical grading guidance published an indicative percentage of CGPA × 9.5. This historical example is not a statement that every current board, course or university uses that factor.

Three supported formula examples

For 8.5 CGPA, multiplying by 9.5 gives 80.75%; multiplying by 10 gives 85%; and subtracting 0.75 before multiplying by 10 gives 77.5%. Only use the result for a form if its required rule matches.

  • ×9.5: CGPA 0–10 corresponds to 0–95%.
  • ×10: CGPA 0–10 corresponds to 0–100%.
  • (CGPA − 0.75) ×10: CGPA 0.75–10 corresponds to 0–92.5% within non-negative percentages.

Reverse conversion has limits

The reverse calculation rearranges the selected equation. It cannot reconstruct an official CGPA from a percentage that was calculated or rounded differently. Values that would produce a negative percentage or a CGPA above 10 are rejected instead of being silently adjusted.

For an application or eligibility decision, follow the receiving organisation's instructions and use an official conversion certificate where required.

Frequently asked questions

›What is 9.2 CGPA as a percentage?

Under ×9.5 it is 87.4%; under ×10 it is 92%; under (CGPA − 0.75) ×10 it is 84.5%. The correct rule depends on your institution and course.

›Why is 100% rejected for the ×9.5 reverse calculation?

100 ÷ 9.5 is above 10, outside this calculator's ten-point scale. The ×9.5 example reaches a maximum of 95% at 10 CGPA. Do not substitute another formula unless your institution permits it.

›Which rule should I use if no formula is published?

Ask your institution or the organisation receiving the result. This calculator does not choose an assumed official rule.

›Can this convert to a four-point GPA?

No. It supports the three stated formula examples on a ten-point scale. Four-point transcript evaluation requires the receiving institution's method.
